1983
Apolónia mini-market opens its doors, March 23, with a total sales floor area of 100 square metres.
1990
The mini-market makes the leap to supermarket.

1991
First changes to the supermarket’s interior.
1996
Supermarket grew to 600 square metres.
2001
March – Fish counter opens.
2002
The company is awarded the status of Excellence by the AEA – Almancil Business Association.
The first issue of Apolónia Magazine.
2003
The store is expanded once again, reaching its current size – 1150 square metres.
The sushi counter opens.
2005
Computerised logistics and stock control system introduced.
The supermarket has 100 employees for the first time.
2006
Tourist Board of the Algarve awards the company a Silver Dedication to Tourism Medal.
The IAPMEI attributes the status of PMR Líder to Apolónia Supermercados, S.A.
2007
Company warehouse, logistical centre and head office move to the MARF industrial estate, near Estoi.
Land for the Galé store is purchased.
2008
In March, Apolónia celebrated its Silver Anniversary at its Almancil store, with a week of events dedicated to gastronomy.
A new Apolónia store opened in Galé, in the municipality of Albufeira, on June 25.
2009
On May 21, 2009, the Galé Apolónia store was awarded the Prémio Mercúrio for its standing in the food industry.
We were also awarded this year with the PME Excelência Prize, proving the excellent financial performance levels and low risk levels of the company, in line with the growth and leadership strategies adopted.
On July 03, Apolónia received the “Hygiene Monitored” seal.
Café Apolónia opened in the Galé (Albufeira) store on July 16.
Also on July 16, Apolónia Galé began to offer yet another quality food service to its customers: Take Away.
